HOSE FOR FIRE HYDRANT SYSTEM
- The hose is nothing but a long flexible tube through which the water flows freely. There are two types of hose 2.5-inch hose connected with nozzles of 7.5 threads per inch and the other is a 4.5-inch hose connected with 4 threads per inch nozzle.
- These hoses are designed to operate under positive pressure and are referred to as the discharge hose. They are attack hose, booster hose, supply hose, forestry hose, and relay hose. The hose that is designed to operate under negative pressure is known as a suction hose.
- The type 2 hose is a multipurpose hose and is suitable for various range of applications. A professional fire person used the hose in the low kneeling position and uses both hands to grip the hose and nozzle. The reason why it’s hard for a fireperson to hold the hose is with a lot of pressure the water is pumped out by Newton’s third law of motion it pulls back making holding difficult.
